Plot Summary:After a shoot-out kills five FBI agents in Kansas City the Bureau target John Dillinger as one of the men to hunt down. Waiting for him to break Federal law they sort out several other mobsters, while Dillinger's bank robbing exploits make him something of a folk hero. Escaping from jail he finds Pretty Boy Floyd and Baby Face Nelson have joined the gang and pretty soon he is Public Enemy Number One. Now the G-men really are after him.

John Milius的导演处女作，虽说是制片公司AIP分配的命题作文，拍一部大萧条时代Dillinger匪帮的枪战片，但观感远胜于日后迈克尔·曼同题材的《公众之敌》。Pretty Boy Floyd赴死前的遗言，堪称Milius那种草莽英雄、热血男子汉式的招牌金句。胡佛生前曾关注过这个项目，担心过于抹黑FBI形象，甚至写了份声明提醒观众。电影全片结束后可以听到这份声明，可惜不是胡佛本人的声音，他在电影开机前因心脏病去世。
