A remarkable personality in Brazilian culture, she was part of various breakthrough movements and stands out as the muse of New Cinema. With 40 years production in several fields of scenic and cinematographic art, she was honored in 2006 by the 10th Fribourg Film Festival in Switzerland in which 25 films where shown in which she acted, produced, or directed - amongst these, O Pátio by Glauber Rocha; O Bandido da Luz Vermelha, and A Mulher de Todos by Roger Sganzerla. Also in Switzerland, hers was the first film shown at the Eletric Sganzerland film installation at the Centre D'Art Contemporain - Fri-Art. Her film Reinven??o da Rua, edited by Rogério Sganzerla was shown at the Turin Film Festival in Italy together with a short film, A Miss e o Dinossauro, as from images from a file in Super 8 of 1970. Cancao de Baal is her first feature. As an actress, Helena Ignez has been part of several Mostra editions amongst which: 31st Mostra, 2007 in A Encarnacao do Demonio and Esta Noite Encarnarei Teu Cadáver, both by José Mojica Marins; 30th Mostra,2006, in Helena Zero and O Padre e a Moca; 27th Mostra, in Glauber, o Filme, Labirinto do Brasil and Signo do Caos, and the 23rd Mostra, in Sao Jeronimo.
