这部电影情节紧凑，涉及到相当多层面的社会问题，而选用四位黑人女性作为主角也让很多人将它与Thelma and Louise(《末路狂花》)和Waiting to Exhale(黑人情感电影，Whitney Houston主演)比较。Thelma and Louise表现的feminism十分明显，而Set It Off并不着眼于此，它的核心点是：她们已经被病态的社会抛弃，她们除了犯罪别无他法。而影片也没有回避四位女性的性格弱点，如贪婪、自私、怯懦，而是将她们的悲喜人生真实地展现在观众眼前。
缺点当然也有，部分情节较为生硬，Keith这段情节线完全可以删掉。
和许多黑人电影一样，OST是电影的一大亮点，RIAA认证Platinum(美国百万销量)。hiphop和R&B流派兼有，En Vogue的Don't Let Go(Love)登上了Billboard Hot 100 #2，这的确是一首融合了rock元素的经典情歌。也收录了Ray J的出道作和当时流行的hiphop团体Bone Thugs-N-Harmony的作品。而值得一提的是Queen Latifah本人参与的同名歌曲、片尾曲Set It Off曲调带着些许悲壮色彩，表达出社会对于弱势群体的压迫让他们不能再坐以待毙，只能奋起反击。
