Reminded me of Paris Is Burning. The type of dancing is called bucking and popularized by the black female cheerleaders at black universities in the South. But the film focuses on the underground amateur male dancers. Most of those involved are black and gay, though one of the participants in one of the competitions is a white young man. The film focused on one black man, Anthony Davis, based in Atlanta. He is one of the major players in the scene and joins in the dance whenever he can, even though he can't dance some of the moves because he is a pretty big man. He loves the dancing so much he even set up a yearly competition at Atlanta, then he took his team to competitions elsewhere. Eye-opening film.
