Annai is a symbol of the lonely self in each individual. She is looking for the other eye to complete her life as the pursuit of happiness. The other eye could represent our dreams, our friends, our achievements, or most commonly, our beloved one. It is the 'eye' that is the most important thing for us in life and makes us feel satisfied. Without the 'eye', we cannot define ourselves in this world. During the long journey, Annai has tried different objects, which are seemingly to be a good match for her own eye. Yet for various reasons, those eyes will not be able to remain beside her or keep her happy, since they do not empathise with Annai. They simply look like 'the other eyes' but are only 'other eyes'. The process of looking for the other eye drains Annai at the end. Fortunately, she finds the other eye when she is at the brim of cracking down. They make up for the losing part of each other and that's what tie them together afterwards.
Hence in almost all types of relationship, needs are what keep us together. If needs exist in only one of the two, the relationship will be hard to maintain. Departure of the other one who is striped of any needs from us is inevitable. However, is there a way of finding the one whom we need and who needs us without having to be drained like Annai is? Well, I'd say the only way would probably be a beautiful encounter? We meet accidentally. We do not and cannot plan for the it.
