人造风景影评:Director's commentary tells more than the film
The visually-inspiring film doesn't, or refuses to declare a strong opinion towards modernization/urbanization, neither have Edward Burtynsky, the photographer and his project played a meaningful role in the whole story. It's more like a behind-the-scene documentary, lacking some independent thinking. Most of its interviews were not contributing to the film's key messages, as they merely talked about either obvious facts or trivial things, and the reason seems to lie in the failure of deep communication with interviewees somehow. A couple pieces of director's commentary in Special Features are recommended, as you'll see a clearer personality than in the film itself.
