With colorful and luxury clothes and palace decoration, this documentary of course draws plenty of attention from viewers. Daming Palace is indeed a wonderful building in Tang, not Ming dynasty. What impresses me most is not the historic background but the death of Yang Yuhuan. People nowadays tend to blame the extinction of a dynasty for women, beautiful like Yang Yuhuan or Chen Yuanyuan. However, the truth is Yang never influences the political choices of an emperor. The death under a pear tree on Maweipo could be the most overwelming tragedy in that period. And i still wander sometimes what she was thinking before her doom, love for Tang Xuanzong or hatred, regret of entering Daming Palace? No one could really know, even Xuanzong.
