This now reminds me of how society looks down on those who chooses or are forced to live by themselves, live marginal lives, live a life that other try to avoid.
By any means, one doesn't have to fully comply with social norms just to act "normal". It's 21st century, and has our society evolved to understand one another? Not much.
The society perpetuates this notion that one cannot be happy unless you are coupled up, unless you follow certain path, unless you choose to agree with the majority. This is old to say that everyone is different, but when it comes to social conformity, the difference must to erased.
The movie is about a man, who lives by himself with a lovely cat, who has to fight to keep his dignity, who has to move from one place to another to find his nest. He chooses to understand most of the situation he encounters, and he has the empathy towards most of the people he meets, hooker, upstarts, and people just like him.
It's unhealthy to promote the idea that one idea fits all, and too often, we forgot that we can be happy, whole, and fulfilled by ourselves.
