Isabel's inebriate father proudly announces his daughter's engagement to Torquemada, a brutal lord, without consulting his lovely daughter and she refuses to agree to the wedding. When his father grabs her on the turret of the lord's castle, there is a struggle as she tries to pull from his grasp, resulting in the old man falling from the rampart to his death below. Clearly this is a tragic accident, but Torquemada - the lord of the palace and surrounding lands - has been publicly humiliated. He accuses Isabel of murder and locks her in his dungeon to await a trial that never comes, for the vicious man intends to use the powers of the Inquisition to torture and destroy the woman who rejected him. Will Isabel be able to resist him and survive?
