Death on the Nile (6/10 stars)
Never Introduce Your Special One To A Friend
Interestingly, the unending crusades of classic reanimation are almost always controversial, for audiences demand both recreation and creativity.
On the bright side, Death on the Nile exhibits saturated color and exotic sceneries, which foster various atmosphere as the case progresses. Despite that, we now go down the roller coaster. The secondary characters are barely attached to the major plot because of a lack of characterization, making them awkward existences and obviously not murderers. For characters in the spotlight: Jackie’s a simp, Simon’s unfaithful, Linnet seems innocent but was described as arrogant in the book. Poirot, expected, loses his unathletic, chunky, peculiar qualities from the original story as performed by Kenneth Branagh.
Murder on the Orient Express closely ties all 12 passengers with the murder because they’re all involved in the vengeance, but Death on the Nile abruptly introduces the ideology of “love” upon all characters, which simply doesn’t connect with Agatha Christie’s intricate portray and stylistic narration.
At the end of the day, I feel like I’ve watched a tasteless murder, and its resolution with no aftertaste.
